4/4/2010 Great and Holy Pascha

Saints and Feasts: George the Righteous of Maleon; Righteous Plato the Studite; Nicetas the Hieromartyr. Struggler of Serrai (1808); Righteous Zosima

Epistle: Acts 1:1-8

Gospel: John 1:1-17

To ponder and mediate on: Let none fear death, for the death of the Savior has set us free. Christ is risen and the demons have fallen, Christ is risen and the angels rejoice (from the Paschal Homily of St. John Chrysostom).

Christ is Risen, Truly He is Risen! You made it to Pascha (Passover)– when Christ “passed over from death to life”. May the resurrected Lord continually reign in your hearts and lives and may you be transfigured by the light of the resurrection.

If you have followed this blog through the 40 days (and beyond) and would like to write a comment so we can publicize in the future, please do so. May God be with you!!!

Christ is Risen, Truly He is Risen!

4/3/2010 Holy Saturday

Saints and Feasts: Nikitas the Confesor; Joseph the Hymnographer; Theodosia and Irene the Martyrs

Epistle: Rom. 6:3-11

Gospel: Matthew 28:1-20

To ponder and mediate on: What is this sight we behold? What is this present rest? The King of ages, having through His Passion fulfilled the plan of salvation, keeps Sabbath in the tomb . . . Unto Him let us cry aloud: Arise O Lord, judge the earth, for His mercies, endures forever, Allellulia (from the Matins of Holy Saturday).

4/2/2010 Holy Friday

Saints and Feasts: Titus the Wonderworker; Theodora the Virgin-martyr of Palestine; Amphianos & Aedesios the Martyrs of Lycia

Epistle: I Cor. 5:6-8

Gospel: Matthew 27:62-66

To ponder and mediate on: Today, He who hung the earth upon the waters is hung upon the Cross. He who is King of the angels is arrayed in a crown of thorns. He who wraps the heavens in clouds is wrapped in the purple of mockery . . . . We venerate Your Passion O Christ. Show us also your glorious Resurrection.
